When the Truth Sets Me Free, I am Free Indeed - Practical Prayer Tools for Freedom from Fear!

It seems everywhere I turn that pastors and teachers are encouraging us to put God's Word in our hearts - meditating and praying the Word, even singing the Word - so that we can walk in all the fullness that God has for us.

This blog is devoted to simply providing prayer tools for getting the truth of God's Word in our hearts as it relates to being free from fear.

Here are prayers with scriptures that will solidify the Truth in us, setting us free from fear.

As you pray each “I will fear not” prayer, remember to physically and spiritually breathe in God’s truth, breathing deeply and focusing your heart to receive Truth.  I included this symbol to remind you to breathe in God’s truth and make it a part of you:  ^^

^^“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me” (Psalm 23:4).
^^I will Fear Not: You, Lord, are my Good Shepherd, and You will lead me and guide me beside places of quiet and provision; therefore, I am not afraid.  You are the one who comforts me and brings me perfect peace.

^^“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).
^^I will Fear Not: Thank you, Lord, that with your help I can choose to not be anxious – instead I will call on your name, asking you for your peace that goes beyond what I can comprehend, and trusting You, I will give thanks.  I know that I will be guarded by your amazing peace.

^^“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).
^^I will Fear Not: I come to You, Lord Jesus, and bring you my burdens that I have carried.  I give them to you, and I choose to rest in you, as I am led by You and You alone. I accept that your ways are better, so I lay aside my desire to make sure things happen my way.

^^“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important…? Look at the birds… your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow…. Will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?… But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself...” (Matthew 6:25-34).

^^I will Fear Not: I choose the simplicity of trusting You, Lord.  I choose to not worry about my life and my future.  I will trust --  just like the birds and flowers.  I will seek you, Lord, in everything, knowing that you will take care of me.

^^“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding” (Psalm 111:10).
^^I will Fear Not: I know that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.  But it is only the beginning, for perfect love casts out all fear.  I enter into a place of trusting your ways to be so much better than my mine.

^^“Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another… There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love” (1 John 4:11, 18).
^^ I will Fear Not: Lord, I know that your perfect love is what will remove my fears.  I choose this perfect love by knowing that your ways are always the best!

^^“For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, ‘Do not fear; I will help you’” (Isaiah 41:13).
^^ I will Fear Not: I know that you, Lord, are here, and you want to hold my hand and help me.

^^“For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption and by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father’” (Romans 8:15).
^^ I will Fear Not: Abba Father, I run to you and call out to you, knowing that you have called me to be your child.

^^“The LORD is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear?  The LORD is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid?… Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident” (Psalm 27:1, 3).
^^ I will Fear Not: I choose to live in your light and salvation, Lord; therefore I will not fear any threat.

^^“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).

^^I will Fear Not: Lord, I give up all my worries to you, for I know that you care for me

“^^So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).
^^I will Fear Not: God, I know that you are with me and it is you who are strengthening me and holding me up.

^^“Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).
^^I will Fear Not: I choose instead to practice being quiet before you, God; I will learn to be still in your presence where I can know YOU!   You are the God of peace and love and mercy and wisdom and power.

^^“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline” (2 Timothy 1:7).
^^I will Fear Not:  I choose to receive the Spirit of Christ which is power, love, and self-control.  I will not receive a spirit of fear, nor will I be intimidated.  When I sense fear or intimidation, I will pray, and I will take every thought captive, making it obedient to the will of God.

^^“Praise the LORD.  Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who finds great delight in his commands… He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.  His heart is secure, he will have no fear; in the end he will look in triumph on his foes” (Psalm 112:1, 7-8).

^^ I will Fear Not: Lord, I choose to trust You and delight in You.  I am secure in you.  I do not worry about "bad news," because I know that in you I have victory.  I will overcome through your power and wisdom!

^^“You came near when I called you, and you said, ‘Do not fear’” (Lamentations 3:57).

^^I will Fear Not: Instead, I Call to you, Lord, and You will come close.  You will comfort me.

^^“But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. ‘Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened’” (1 Peter 3:14).
^^ I will Fear Not:  Even in suffering, I know that you will bless me.  I won’t fear what other people fear.

^^“...The Lord has said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.... [Therefore], for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12:8-10).
^^I will Fear Not: Lord, I accept that in my weakness You are strong, so I rely on your grace, and I know that I will be made strong in Christ.

^^“But now, this is what the LORD says – he who created you…..: ‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine’” (Isaiah 43:1).
^^I will Fear Not:  You are my Lord, my Creator and my Savior, and you call me by name.  I am yours and you are mine!

“Do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit” (Mark 13:11b).
^^I will Fear Not: Instead I trust you, God, to give me the words to say and I won’t be afraid to speak about you to others.

^^“The LORD has taken away your punishment; he has turned back your enemy… Never again will you fear any harm… The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save.  He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing” (Zephaniah 3:15, 17).
^^I will Fear Not:  Lord, I trust that you are really here with me.  I trust you to quiet me with your love and sing over me with joy.

^^“Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel” (Ephesians 6:1.)

^^I will Fear Not: I will share the good news about you, Jesus, even as you pray for me to be fearless.

Suggestion:  When you have completed praying these, highlight ones that seemed particularly urgent for you right now and write them down on a note card to take with you wherever you go.  Praying as you go will help you keep the Word in your heart and apply it as needed.

A Prayer - Faith, Hope & Love

Some of my blog entries are more along the lines of sharing what I have learned, and some are prayers that I share with the hope that others may want to use these prayers in their own devotional prayer time with the Lord.  Here is one such prayer.

May the Lord touch you in a powerful way and draw you close as you pray.

Jesus, I thank you and praise you that you are near to me, right now, by the power and presence of Holy Spirit.  Remind me of your immanent presence, both surrounding me and filling me.  Teach me the habit of being filled, over and over again, by you.  I am drinking you in like water, breathing you in like the air around me.

You, Lord, are ever teaching me that these three remain – faith, hope, and love. (1 Cor 13).  Faith expressing itself in love.  Christ in me the hope of glory.  Where then is my hope?  My hope is in YOU -- the one who loves me and the one gave himself for me.  My hope is in YOU alone, Lord!  You are the author and finisher of my faith.  I abide in your love because you have prayed and the Father has answered, that the love that is in the Father for the Son may also be in me - in us (John 17).  I am living and breathing all day long an atmosphere of faith, hope and love.   Together this faith, hope and love is grace to me, is goodness to me, and provides all that I need, beyond what I can ask or imagine.  May I walk today and every day in this atmosphere of faith, hope and love.

May I walk more deeply in faith, cling more tightly to hope, and embody more completely your love.  Remind me today that everything that comes against my faith, or tries to attack my hope, or tempts me to not love is of the evil one.  I will remain in love, remain in hope, remain in faith.  Faith that moves mountains.  Hope that never dies. Love that fills and heals even the deepest of wounds.  Give me your heart, Lord!

For what is prayer if it is not the joining of my heart to yours?  What is life worth if it is not lived in your presence and from your presence?  Grant it, Lord, that there should never be anything that I desire that is not consistent with placing all my hope in you and walking out a life of love, and a life of faith in You.   Help me to unlearn every unhelpful idea of prayer that I have heard and practiced.

I enter into your heart by faith now, coming boldly before your mercy seat and your throne of grace, and I ask that you will forgive me for every idle word, every unloving thought, and fill me instead with a holy fire of your love for all whom I would encounter.

Let my heart be softened and pliable, vulnerable to the mercy that you want to pour in me and through me.  Let me be a humble servant who is solely motivated by Your heart of compassion, not being moved by perceived need, but rather moved by the real power, wisdom, and love that can come only through joining my heart to your heart - knowing and obeying You, laying aside the flesh and embracing Spirit as Life.

Take me from this humble place before you, and move me into just the right place today where I may allow words of faith, words of hope, and words of love to flow from my lips.  May what I say and do today be a reflection of your heart of mercy, knowing that you, who have called me, are the One who is faithful to complete the good work you have started - both in me and in all those I love.

Thank you, Lord, that all my hope is in You, the Faithful and True God.  My faith rests in the One who never fails, the One who knows the end from the beginning and who holds eternity in his hands.. All my fountains are in You, and I drink deeply from your wells of salvation today!   May I blossom and bear fruit like a well-watered garden.

Amen!
